Birth of a culture:
African-Americans have been oppressed for many years. Even after the end of slavery, the white man still attempted to hold the negro man never giving them equal justice or representation. Often mistreated something needed to be done to restore the faith and culture of African-Americans in the United States. Thus began the mass movement of expression through various forms of art, literature, and music. This sparked a new sense of culture identity in the black community.
