Louis Armstrong (August 4, 1901- July 6, 1971.)
Though to be considered in a separate category than contributing to the Harlem Renaissance the list should consider Louis Armstrong as a major contributor to the success of the Harlem Renaissance. Louis Armstrong is a well-known trumpet player in the United States. Considered to be the Father of Jazz, Armstrong helped promote black culture through his compositions. Though thought to just be playing music for fun, Armstrong had very clear messages/themes in his music that promoted an optimistic future where whites and blacks get along with each other. |
